don't let the title alarm you, there was no bank robbery. let me explain...
today i went to my local wells fargo for a very sad reason. i withdrew a bunch of money from both my checking and savings accounts. the purpose is to pay for this year at school which is fast approaching. i'm talking thousands of dollars that i've saved this summer was taken from my accounts. well i guess "sad" isn't the right word for it. i'm proud of myself for saving this money over the summer and it's about time i start paying for my own things anyways: tuition, books, rent, phone, food, etc. it was just hard to watch my balance plummet from thousands to next to nothing. but it's all for a good cause.
so i walk in the bank sporting a baseball cap. i love wearing these. i didn't realize that i would be going to the bank today because if i did, i would have ditched the hat to appear less suspicious.
the teller asked me, "how can i help you?" i told her that i needed to withdraw "a bunch of money" from both accounts. she looked at me and asked for my id almost immediately. i gladly handed that baby over, well i had to slide it under the thick glass wall that was separating us. as she was clicking the computer mouse, she said out of nowhere, "teller assistance please!" the manager dude came over and looked at me, looked at my id, looked at the amounts i wanted to take out on the withdrawal slip and then looked at me again. IT'S A BANK! people withdraw money all day long. the person before me probably withdrew double what i did for a stupid pair of shoes or something! i guess they were just doing their jobs, being thorough and following protocol. but i was growing impatient and waiting for them to ask me my blood type followed by a retina scan.
despite the fact that the tellers were making me nervous, there was nothing i could do but smile through this. i politely thanked both of them for their help as i left with the cashmoney. to me, it was only a baseball cap but i suppose to the tellers i might as well have carried in a red flag. maybe it wasn't the baseball cap. i think the fact that i was sweating the entire transaction because of the vegas heat didn't help me out either.
so here is a picture of the harmless hat i wore today and a nice view of the inside of the tiny trailer on the job site where i work. oh and the trip to philadelphia is TOMORROW! i'll be back on tuesday with a full report. get excited.
