the bank robbery

don't let the title alarm you, there was no bank robbery. let me explain...

today i went to my local wells fargo for a very sad reason. i withdrew a bunch of money from both my checking and savings accounts. the purpose is to pay for this year at school which is fast approaching. i'm talking thousands of dollars that i've saved this summer was taken from my accounts. well i guess "sad" isn't the right word for it. i'm proud of myself for saving this money over the summer and it's about time i start paying for my own things anyways: tuition, books, rent, phone, food, etc. it was just hard to watch my balance plummet from thousands to next to nothing. but it's all for a good cause.

so i walk in the bank sporting a baseball cap. i love wearing these. i didn't realize that i would be going to the bank today because if i did, i would have ditched the hat to appear less suspicious.

the teller asked me, "how can i help you?" i told her that i needed to withdraw "a bunch of money" from both accounts. she looked at me and asked for my id almost immediately. i gladly handed that baby over, well i had to slide it under the thick glass wall that was separating us. as she was clicking the computer mouse, she said out of nowhere, "teller assistance please!" the manager dude came over and looked at me, looked at my id, looked at the amounts i wanted to take out on the withdrawal slip and then looked at me again. IT'S A BANK! people withdraw money all day long. the person before me probably withdrew double what i did for a stupid pair of shoes or something! i guess they were just doing their jobs, being thorough and following protocol. but i was growing impatient and waiting for them to ask me my blood type followed by a retina scan.

despite the fact that the tellers were making me nervous, there was nothing i could do but smile through this. i politely thanked both of them for their help as i left with the cashmoney. to me, it was only a baseball cap but i suppose to the tellers i might as well have carried in a red flag. maybe it wasn't the baseball cap. i think the fact that i was sweating the entire transaction because of the vegas heat didn't help me out either.

so here is a picture of the harmless hat i wore today and a nice view of the inside of the tiny trailer on the job site where i work. oh and the trip to philadelphia is TOMORROW! i'll be back on tuesday with a full report. get excited.

johnny depp = delicious

i saw the movie chocolat over the weekend and i was very impressed. i became lost in the charm and beauty of the quaint french town where the movie took place. it is a dream of mine to someday roam the streets of europe with someone i love and with everything i need on my back. i am always accepting donations for the "send whitney to europe" fund. let me know if you are interested.

back to chocolat... so i remember this little film being the critic's favorite when it was released which made me even more eager to see it. i wasn't disappointed. the movie is completely delightful. the characters are perfectly acted with witty dialogue. johnny depp is perfect as usual.

the philadelphia trip is this friday! i've never been to a big city before. i sound like i grew up on a farm milking cows or something. what am i talking about, i was raised in vegas! anyways, i will eat a philly cheesesteak for you. oh wait, i'm a vegetarian and therefore won't do anything of the sort. it'll be a year without meat (yes, this includes chicken and fish) on september 11.

i am kind of nervous about the trip, not for casey but for me. i know that casey will rock the audition for american idol and if he's not chosen to advance in the competition, it isn't because of his lack of talent. i am scared that i'll be on tv. you know how sometimes the guests of the people trying out get interviewed? i'm terrified that'll be me and i will ramble like an idiot. however, i keep in mind that there will be thousands of people there and my chances of that happening are slim. the last thing i want to do is small talk with ryan seacrest. gag me.

i was talking to kaley about a guy friend of mine. i told her that i am sometimes interested in him and sometimes not. i was like, "kaley! advice! now!" she is great at this and is the one i turn to when it comes to guys among other important things. she told me that she needs a guy who will "electrify her senses." kaley has a way with words. i think i want that too. so the guy in question is out due to lack of my senses being electrified. next...

philly! philly! philly!

GREAT news! my cousin casey called me yesterday. he told me that he has decided to audition for american idol! i was so excited for him and i asked him when and where. he said that the auditions are in PHILADELPHIA in like two weeks. i almost exploded with excitement for him. then the greatest news of all... he was inviting me to go WITH him! ahhhh! after a combination of laughing and yelling, i think he took my response as a yes.

"west philadelphia, born and raised. on the playground is where i spend most of my days..." this is the hometown of the fresh prince himself! i am headed to will smith's old stomping grounds. the city of brotherly love! the classic scene where rocky is running up the steps was filmed there! not to mention, this city is basically the birthplace of our nation: the constitutional convention, the liberty bell, the declaration of independence! philadelphia!

the plane flight is about 5 hours and there is a three hour time change once we land. the furthest east i've ever been is florida and that is more south than anything. i am very excited to go on this trip and can't wait to leave! i will take millions of pictures of our adventure...

the lindsay lohan

last night my sister kaley and i went over to our cousin casey's house to watch a movie. he's been gone for two years, ya know, so he's got some catching up to do. we watch mission impossible III, which i love, mainly because the alias creator directed this movie. it is so great. as casey said last night, "if only tom cruise wasn't such a psycho." true, true.

there must have been something in the air last night because one by one, the people around me were dropping like flies. casey is like, "would you guys hate me if i went to bed?" about 15 minutes later, braxton stands up and is all, "i'm out of here." zac is next, "i'm goin' to bed." so kaley and i are the only ones conscious. we get to the end of the movie and i assume kaley is still awake, because honestly, who can fall asleep during a j.j. abrams film?! talk about impossible...

to my suprise, homie is sleeping... straight up gone. i tell her that the show's over and we gotta go home. it's about midnight at this point. she makes her way to the car and is in that weird kinda awake kinda asleep thing. i glance over and she is passed out actually, very lindsay lohan-esque.

however, kaley begins chatting towards the end of the drive home which i doubt she has any memory of...

kaley: "is this a rental car?"
me: "what? no. this is jeff's car."
kaley: "no it's not."
me: "yeah, you're right kaley, i stole it."
kaley: "whose car is this!?"
me: "have you ever seen gone in 60 seconds? i hotwired it."
kaley: "whatever, whit. i'm not getting in trouble for this."

she may kill me for sharing this.

he's home sweet home.

my cousin casey came home from his mission in paraguay on tuesday the 31st. i am SO happy to have him home. we grew up together and i consider him one of my best friends.

he is deciding whether or not to move up to provo this fall. i told him to, "fast and pray about it and if you get the answer to stay in vegas, try again. that was your own mind telling you that and not a real answer." kidding... kinda.

so for his homecoming on tuesday, basically the whole family greeted him at the airport with posters and decorated our nana's house with streamers, balloons and more posters. i am still getting used to him being home. i keep calling him "kaley."

he makes my life happier.
